My position at D'hondt Insurance has changed somewhat since 1.5 years. At the start I managed a complete customer dossier. This means that you are responsible for both the policy management and the settlement of claims. Since February last year, I have to focus solely on claims management in the transport department.

The direct contact with customers, insurers, experts, to sometimes find a solution in a rather creative way to settle the file as desired. Unfortunately, not everything goes as you would like, but if eventually a solution is found to everyone's satisfaction, then your mission is accomplished.

What is your most memorable anecdote from your career at D'hondt Insurance? I think the most memorable moment of my career was the flexibility that D'hondt Insurance showed during the lockdown. Pretty soon everyone had the means to work from home and everything could continue as usual. This was not easy at all and no one ever thought this would take 2 years. Fortunately, this seems to be a thing of the past and we can once again be present in the office together with our colleagues. I have come to appreciate that even more.

Besides work, I like to go hiking, enjoy sun and sea and occasionally travel. In the meantime, I try to make as much time as possible for the people I love.

I was hired to join the transportation department and was immediately put to work there as well. In the beginning I was not immediately assigned customers, but after a while I became the manager of a number of customers, most of whom are still customers. That's how you build a relationship of trust.

At D'hondt Insurance I was assigned various clients such as GDP Transport, Transport Gheeraert and Transport De Keyser. But at the start of my career in 1988 I started in a brokerage house in Zeebrugge with 3 customers. These clients are the ones that you still keep in mind.
