On Sunday 5 June, the RMI (the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium) announced Code Orange in the provinces of Limburg and Antwerp, soon followed by East and West Flanders.

Due to the heavy rainfall, several streets were completely flooded. Houses were flooded and even the train traffic at Landen station had to be stopped because the station was completely flooded. A local festival was literally drowned. The organisation called on festival-goers to come to the festival after 7 p.m. Several companies had to stop their activities.

The operators of the indoor playground in Bilzen received water and were forced to close the business. At the residential care centre te Montenaken all residents of the ground floor had to be evacuated.
